Never Underestimate the Value of a Funny Quote

Around our house, we laugh a lot.

It’s not that we’re all that funny, but we love good humor.

Okay, and sometimes I say things that in my brain make perfect sense, but when sentences leave my mouth, they come out differently than I thought they would … making John laugh. Hard. And when he laughs hard it makes me laugh. We have a lot of laughing in our house – which makes for a delightfully lighthearted approach to most days.

I’ve also taken to capturing funny things I see on social media. I don’t know where they come from because most often it’s an image with a funny saying inside it. These days someone can create one of these images, and unless they have their watermark or stamp or some identifier on it, it’s anyone’s guess who the original creator was.

Here's some recent ones that I thought were awfully clever.

I don’t know about you, but I find these lighthearted enough to bring me a smile, even on the roughest of days. We’ve had a lot of those in our 28 years together – some really really rough ones. But even then, we allow ourselves time to take stock, grieve if we need to, and then try to soften the rough patches with a glimmer of humor.

As a writer, this one really cracked me up.

Here’s another one for you, that I just saw today:

If you think you’re too small to make a difference, you’ve obviously never been in a dark room with a mosquito. And if you know me, you know that the only way I escape nasty, allergic mosquito-bite reactions is by drowning myself in Deet. (Yes, I’ve tried every other option on the market, and No they don’t work for me.) Who among us hasn’t heard that tiny whiny noise in our ear at night, leapt out of bed, grabbed the first thing we could find (my go-to is the closest t-shirt), turned the light on, scanned every wall, every furniture surface, every ceiling for it, and then spent the next 30 minutes whapping at it until – FINALLY – we nail that little bugger.

Bottom line here?

I now realize why we are all prisoners of our phones.

Wait for it ...........................................................................................................................................

They’re called cell phones. 😂😂😂😂😂
